Aquinas Academy Visit
Just before the start of Holy Week, this year, our Residents, Sisters and Staff were treated to a very special performance of the Passion of Our Lord when the talented and very professional theatrical students from Aquinas Academy treated us to a live original performance of the last hours of the life of Christ.
These dedicated and highly professional 8th through 10th grade players, complete with original costumes and hand-crafted props, dramatized the Stations of the Cross in this stirring performance. We were so intent on the performance that our usual chattiness subsided quickly, as we were mesmerized by this excellent dramatic presentation, taking us from the first Station of the Cross to the last.
Teachers and staff from Aquinas Academy accompany the student-players on all their trips throughout New Castle County, providing transportation and acting as stagehands, directors, and technical support. Kaya, the group’s director, and a teacher at the Academy, said that the group will present this play at least 5 times this year. Though they usually have several months to prepare for this yearly performance, this year, they had only two weeks! But you’d never know it! The acting was excellent, and the show went on without a hitch.
At different times throughout the school year and beyond, this group works on many different types of performances such as musicals, plays and amateur hours! Afterwards, Residents enjoyed talking with the performers and their teachers who promised to be back again with more presentations. We can’t wait! What a blessing!
