Thoughts of Love
In preparation for our Valentine’s Day celebration this year, we asked our Residents, our Sisters and our Staff to share with us their fondest memories of love, or to tell us what love means to them. Here are just a few of the beautiful thoughts of love which came from this special exercise in understanding the meaning and power of love:
“My 6th grade teacher first showed me what it meant to have unconditional love ~ that’s when I first began to understand the love of God.”
“Sometimes you don’t recognize love until you look back over the years and realize it was there all along.”
“For me, love is when I see my grandkids doing the happy dance when they see me coming!”
“When I experience the gratitude from those I care for, that’s when I feel love the most.”
“I think that real love is unconditional. It lets you feel good, warm, and protected.”
“I remember when I was very little, my mom would ask me, “Do you love me?” I’d spread out my arms and say, “I love you THIS much!” Then she’d smile, stretch her arms out as wide as she could and say, “God’s love for you is THIS much!”
“The closest to God’s love is a mother’s love.”
Later, to keep all the love going, we gathered, enjoyed some delicious Valentine’s treats specially prepared by our kitchen staff, and, with the help of our cheerful and generous volunteers, we made special Valentine’s Day decorations to hang on our huge, year-round holiday tree!
